Henry Platt (1793–1842) was the founder of Platt Brothers

1793 March 20th. Born in Dobcross the son of John Platt (1767–1830).

1815 March 20th. Married Sarah Whitehead (1792–1860) and they had four sons and six daughters.

1815 Birth of son Joseph Platt (1815–1845)

1817 Birth of son John Platt (1817–1872)

He took over the business of his father John, a prosperous machine maker, and carried on the manufacture of wool-processing machinery.

1821 Moved from Dobcross to Oldham to manufacture cotton machinery, especially carding engines

1822 Formed a partnership with Elijah Hibbert under the name of Hibbert and Platt

1824 Birth of son James Platt.

1842 Henry Platt died
