Henry Brown (1862-1929) of Henry Browne and Son; he seems to have used the name Browne around 1900 when he went into business on his own account.

1862 Born in Lewes, son of Ebenezer Brown, tallow chandler, and his wife Charlotte Brown[1]

1883 Birth of son Henry Herbert Brown. HB is listed as an Assistant Optician of 9 Philpot Street, Tower Hamlets. HHB emigrated with his wife Kate and five children to Canada.

1891 Living at Luther Villa, Strone Road, East Ham: Henry Brown (age 29 born Lewes), Ship Compass Maker, employed. With his wife Oliffe A. Brown (age 30 born London City) and their two children Henry H. brown (age 8 born Stepney) and Oliffe A. R. Brown (age 6 born Stepney). [2]

1901 Living at Belle View, Kingston Road, Kingston by Sea, Sussex: Harry Browne, Ship's Compass Maker. With his wife Oliffe Amy Browne (age 39 born London) and two daughters.[3]

1911 Living at 100 High Street, Brightlingsea, Essex: Henry Brown (age 49 born Lewes), Ship's Compass Maker. With his wife Oliffe Amelia Brown (age 50 born London City) and two children Elsie Amy brown (age 14 born West Ham), Assistant Compass Dial Painter, and Frank George Brown (age 5 born Brightlingsea).[4]

1929 December 26th. Henry Brown, of 33 Kimberley Avenue, Seven Kings, Essex, died. Probate to Oliffe Amelia Brown, Widow.[5]
