Harry Bentham
Harry Bentham (c1869-1953), Civil Engineer
Born the son of Thomas Bentham, a Watchmaker and Jeweller.
1911 Living at 92 Ritherdon Road, Balham: Harry Bentham (age 42 born Worcester), Contractor Engineer - Clerk of Works at Finchley Urban District Council. With his wife Lily Anne and one son.[1]
1936-46 Living at Huron Road, Balham.
1938 MR. HARRY BENTHAM He was engaged on the construction of the Blackwall Tunnel and the Surrey Commercial Dock, and during the war was engineer with Sir John Jackson on the Board of Construction of Aerodromes under the Air Ministry, and the inspection of munitions in Ireland. In recent years Mr. Bentham has been chief engineer to the executive of public works contracts in London. Middlesex and elsewhere. Mr. and Mrs. Bentham came to live in Balham in 1898. and except for a short time during the war have been here ever since. For many years Mr. Bentham has been a deacon at Ramsden-road Baptist Church.[2]
