Henry Spurrier (c1840-1922) of the Lancashire Steam Motor Co

c1840 Born at Marston on Dove, Derbyshire

1865 Married in Manchester to Margaret; they had several children:

1871. Henry is living at Beach Hill, Salford age 31 and is an oil merchant. With him are his wife Margaret (age 27), sons Arthur (age 5) and Henry (II) (age 3), daughter Edith (age 1) and three servants. [1]

1883. Henry Spurrier is listed at 8 Market Place, Manchester as a subscriber to the Manchester Royal Exchange. [2]

1891. Henry is living at Old House Farm, Marston on Dove and is age 51 and 'Living on own means' and is a County magistrate. With him are his wife Margaret and children Henry (a steam engine maker) (age 23), Edith (age 21), George S. (age 19), Philip C. (age 14?), Louise M. (age 9) and John M. (age 5) plus four servants and a companion. [4]

1896. As a retired businessman turned farmer of Derbyshire, he joined with his sons Henry (II) and George and also with James Sumner to form the Lancashire Steam Motor Co which later became Leyland Motors

1901 Henry is living at Marston House, Marston on Dove and is age 61 and 'living on own means'. With him are his wife Margaret (age 57) and children Philip C. (age 22), Louisa M. (age 19) and Reginald S. (age 17) plus six servants, a lady's companion and a visitor. [5]

1922. 23rd June. Died. A notice concerning his property also mentions the following persons: [6]
