GWILYM EVANS died on November 25, 1905, at Westfa, in his fifty-fourth year. He was chairman of the Old Castle Tinplate Company, the Welsh Tinplate Stamping and Enamelling Company, Richard Nevill & Company, and a director of the Llanelly Steelworks Company.

For three years he was chairman of the Carmarthenshire County Council, for which county he was High Sheriff in 1897. In. 1898 he was appointed chairman of the Llanelly Chamber of Commerce. He was a Fellow of the Chemical Society.

He was elected a member of the Iron and Steel Institute in 1894.
