Gutehoffnungshutte Sterkrade

From Graces Guide

Gutehoffnungshütte, or Gute Hoffnung Hütte, became part of the GHH Group, which was founded in 1758. The Gute Hoffnung ironworks in Oberhausen-Sterkrade went into operation in 1782.[1]

Successors to Hüttengewerkschaft und Handlung Jacobi, Haniel & Huyssen (JHH) [2]

Originally founded as a smelting company, GHH expanded early on into the mining and processing sectors, and transformed in the 20th century into a vast mechanical and plant engineering company, and finally merged into the MAN Group in 1986.

An 1835 beam engine made by the company for Krupp at Essen is on display at the Deutsches Museum.
