Gulgong Pioneers Museum

Cast iron memorial to 9 year old William Gudgeon, son of the local blacksmith James Gudgeon. James was born in North Woolwich in 1854. He arrived in NSW some time before 1876 in which year he married Harriett Harvey at Mudgee, about 30kms down the track from Gulgong. In 1891 James built a small, timber cottage for his family in Gulgong. The cottage still stands and is in the grounds of, and forms a part of, the museum. James died in 1904.
