Guildford Power Station

1928 A new power station was opened in Guildford.

The plant initially comprised one 3,000-kw. and two 1,500-kw. turbo-alternators by C. A. Parsons and Co. The 1,500-kw. sets (illustrated in Engineering), were supplied with steam at 250 psi and 700 deg. F. They had single-cylinder turbines incorporating blading of the Curtis, Rateau and Parsons patterns, in that order, from the inlet to the exhaust. The 3,000 kW set was also single-cylinder, but with reaction blading throughout.[1]

1968 Ceased generating.
