1961 Obituary [1]

'It is with regret that we have to record the death of Sir Greville S. Maginness on Thursday, November 23, at the age of seventy-three years. Sir Greville started his industrial career with Kynoch Ltd., and in 1924 he left that firm to become the managing director of the Churchill Machine Tool Company Ltd., of which he became the chairman in 1941. It was also in 1941 that he was appointed chairman of Roneo Ltd. At the time of his death Sir Greville was deputy chairman of Tube Industries Ltd., and during his career he served on the boards of a number of other companies.

His extensive commercial experience and personality made Sir Greville's services widely sought, and he gave much time to public service and the wider field of industry. Amongst other offices he served as president of the Machine Tool Trades Association from 1940 to 1943; president of the Engineering and Allied Employers' National Federation 1944-46; president of the British Employers' Confedertion 1946-5; member of the Engineering Advisory Council, 1946-61; and member of the Machine Tool Advisory Council, Ministry of Supply 1945-61.

In the death of Sir Greville industry has lost the services of a gifted and enthusiastic leader who was widely respected and will long be missed by his many friends.'
