1772 The company was incorporated.
1894 The company acquired the Barrow Navigation. [1]
1950 Under the Transport Act, 1950, Coras Iompair Eireann and the Grand Canal Co. were amalgamated and brought under public ownership. A new Board, again entitled Coras Iompair Eireann, was set up as from 1st June 1950 to administer the new organization.
