Grebe | 1923 | Fighter. Single-seater biplane. A refinement of the Nieuport Nighthawk design. Powered by 400 hp Armstrong Siddeley Motors Jaguar IV. 133 planes built. |
Gamecock | 1925 | Fighter. Last wooden biplane fighter for the RAF. Single-seater biplane based on he Grebe. Powered by 425 hp Armstrong Siddeley Motors Jaguar VII. The Gamecock had an fairly short RAF service life, partly because of its high accident rate - of the 90 built, 22 were lost in landing or spinning accidents. These faults were remedied in the MkII version, by means of a longer upper wing and a modified tail unit. 90 planes built. |

Gauntlet | 1933 | Fighter. Single-seater biplane. Last open cockpit biplane fighter for the RAF. The Gauntlet was a development of the Gloster SS.19B design, the SS.19 prototype being re-engined first flying in this form in 1933 . On testing the SS.19, the Air Ministry placed an order for 24 aircraft in September 1933, to be named the "Gauntlet". Powered by 640 hp Mercury VIS2. 246 were built. |
