Glen Keith Distillery
Whisky distillers, Station Road, Keith
1957 Glen Keith was built on the initiative of Canadian drinks giant Seagram Co through its subsidiary Chivas Brothers Limited. It was the first new malt distillery to be built in Scotland since the Victorian era and provided extra capacity to the nearby flagship Strathisla Distillery, reputedly Scotland's oldest. It was intended that the distillery should provide spirit for the existing blends of Chivas Regal, Passport and 100 Pipers. It was also home to the Chivas laboratory.
1999 The distillery was mothballed.
2001 The failed diversification of the Seagram business in Canada led to the sale of their UK drinks businesses, which were acquired by Diageo and Pernod Ricard, among them being Chivas Brothers.
2013 After a complete refurbishment, the distillery re-opened.
