1966 Obituary[1]

"We regret to record the death of Mr Gerry Waring, development manager (engines and vehicles), of Leyland Motors Ltd. He was fifty-six. Mr. Waring joined Leyland Motors in 1924 as an engineering apprentice and on completion of his training he joined the staff of research department. He was afterwards promoted to the position of technical assistant to the chief engineer. During the war Mr. Waring was appointed manager of a factory producing horizontal twelve-cylinder engines for fighting vehicles and on the cessation of hostilities he became assistant research engineer. In 1949 he was appointed to the position of research engineer and later held the position of development and proving engineer. He was recently made development manager; the position he held at the time of his death."
