George and John Shepley

From Graces Guide

of New Mills, Derbyshire

1881 Advert: 'NEW MILLS. GEORGE & JOHN SHEPLEY, BRASS & IRON FOUNDERS, MIDLAND IRONWORKS, NEW MILLS, Near Stockport.
Kitchen Ranges, Iron Gutters, Spouts, &c.; Brass and Iron Castings of every variety.' [1]

1881 '.... the Midland works have just been transferred from George and John Shepley, to Mr. R. H. Hyde. of Chapel-en-le-Frith, by whom we have no doubt will be carried on in a very efficient manner.' [2]

The 1896/1899 O.S. map here[3] indicates 'Midland Works (Disused)' on Hidebank Road at Torr Top on the eastern outskirts of New Mills. Was this the Midland Ironworks?
