1894 George Ward first set up his boot and shoe factory, which would become very successful over time.

By 1896 there were 11 boot and shoe factories in Barwell

1918 Ward was manufacturing 20,000 pairs of shoes

1938 The number of boots and shoes made by Wards had increased to 80,000 a year.

1960 Acquired G. H. Palmer.[1]

1972 John White Footwear acquired George Ward Holdings, forming Ward White, one of the largest footwear manufacturers in Western Europe[2]

1989 The Ward White factory in Barwell was closed.
