Born the son of James Holden, Cotton manufacturer, and his wife Hannah Pickup

1925 His wife was killed in a road accident.[1]

1934 Died. 'George Pickup Holden, of Skelghyll Woods, Amblesde, retired cotton manufacturer, formerly proprietor of Pickup and Holden mills, Darwen. and a director of the Sun Paper Mill Co., a former Mayor of Darwen'[2]
