1892 Born

1897-1906 At school in Gorton, Manchester

1906 Worked at Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway's carriage and wagon works. Attended Newton Heath Technical School and Manchester School of Technology

1908 worked in drawing office of Ferranti Ltd on mechanical designs and general contract work

1911 Worked in design office at Metropolitan-Vickers

1913 Left Ferranti and formed Ferguson Pailin with Samuel Ferguson. Chief mechanical engineer and director of Ferguson Pailin Ltd, responsible for all switchgear, tools and machine design.

1926 Continued to hold these positions when he became M Inst Mech E

1971 Died in Leicester[1]
