1856 G. M. Hutton of St Petersburg (same person?) patented improvements to the production of rifled cannon. Patented in Britain on his behalf by J. H. Johnson.
On his retirement from the service, he entered the Lincolnshire Artillery Volunteers, and mainly in recognition of his services to the cause of volunteer artillery, in 1892 he was decorated with the order of the Companionship of the Bath.
1870 He married the daughter of Mr. Eustace Arkwright, of Chesterfield.
