1921 Opened a new switchgear works at Perry Barr

1924 Makers of Electric Control Gear for Textile Mills. Works at Perry Barr, Birmingham.

1920s A team invented Tufnol (from the two words, “tough phenol”).

1929 Private company. Established an associated company Ellison Insulations.

1961 General engineers specialising in electric switchgear and motor control gear.[2]

1966 A new subsidiary Ellison Hydraulics (Birmingham) was formed to take over the company's hydraulics activities.[3]

1970 Sold its hydraulics business to F. Prime and Son.[4]

1970 Acquired Falmouth Boat Construction.[5]

1973 Sold its hospital equipment subsidiary which manufactured hospital beds to BOC.[6]
