GEORGE EATON-SHORE was born at Crewe on 3rd February 1853.
He commenced his engineering career with the London and North Western Railway Co. at Crewe Locomotive Works, the last piece of work he carried out for the Company being the designing of the new foundry under the supervision of the late Mr. F. W. Webb.
In 1882 he was appointed Borough Surveyor of the town of Crewe, and this position he held until the time of his death. During his 34 years of office the population of the town increased from 24,000 to 43,000, and in consequence miles of streets and sewers were laid out under his supervision.
Other work comprised the design and erection of the town's depot and fire-station, and the carrying out of the new sewage works which were constructed to deal with 1.25 million gallons of sewage per day.
His death took place, after a long illness, on 6th November 1916, in his sixty-fourth year.
He was elected a Member of this Institution in 1888.

GEORGE EATON-SHORE, Borough Surveyor of Crewe, was born in that town on the 3rd February, 1853, and died there on the 6th November, 1916.
He gained his practical experience in the London and North Western Railway works as an apprentice, and subsequently as an assistant, and in 1882 he was appointed Borough Surveyor of Crewe, an office which he retained until his death, a period of 34 years. He was responsible for all the municipal work necessitated by the steady growth of the town during that period, as well a for the design and construction of the new sewage disposal works.
Mr. Eaton-Shore was elected an Associate Member on the 1st December, 1885.
