1824 Promoted the Hertford Union Canal, which came to be known as Sir George Duckett's canal[1]

1832 Failure of his bank destroyed the Duckett fortunes

1855 the Regents Canal Co took over the canal owned by George Duckett, which created a link with the river Lea and areas around Tottenham and Edmonton. [2]
