'1975 THE acquisition by Newage Engineers Ltd., of a Scottish company making axles for construction vehicles, fork lift trucks and buses will, say the company complement the activities of their Coventry-based transmissions division. Newage, part of the Charterhouse Group, have acquired from Renfrewshire Hereditable Investments Ltd., the assets and business of Gear Drive Systems Ltd., of Irvine, in a cash deal. Newage have a substantial interest in the production of heavy duty gearboxes for similar applications and say that the acquisition will enable them to extend the scope of their marketing activities. The new unit will trade as Newage Engineers transmission division, Irvine. There are about 30 employees.'[1]
