Garrard Brothers (USA)
Established by Dr. William Garrard and John Hill Garrard. William was born in Suffolk, England, on 21 October 1803, and died on 18 March 1889 at Fallston, Beaver County, Pa. John died at Pittsburgh in 1883 at the age of 78. The family had emigrated to the USA in 1822.[1]
In 1832 crucible steel was manufactured on a commercial scale for the first time in the USA by the Garrard brothers in Cincinnati, at their works, called the Cincinnati Steel Works.
