1856 The plans and model of a scheme for the Thames Esplanade and Railway, including the embankment of the Thames, the clearage of the sewage of London, a direct road for carriages and pedestrians on the north side of the river between London Bridge and Westminster, a railway throughout the same route, and a connection on the Surrey side between the South Western and South Eastern rallways, were submitted to Prince Albert, in the presence of the Count of Flanders and Colonel Seymour at Windsor Castle, by the projector, Mr. Wieland.[1]
