Friedrich Weck

of C. and W. Walker, Midland Iron Works, Donnington, near Newport, Shropshire.

1857 Born in Germany

He was a nephew of Mrs. Charles Clement Walker

Invented the Weck Valve for controlling the flow of gas to purifiers. The patent was communicated to an agent in Britain while Mr. Week was in Berlin.

Shortly afterwards he took up residence at Lilleshall, near Donnington, when he joined the C & W Walker firm and lived with Mr. C. C. Walker.

1877 Naturalised British

1881 An assistant engineer, living with the Walkers in Lilleshall[1]

Other patents were taken out by F. Weck, but the centre valve was the most important.

1883 Joined I Mech E

1892 Engineer, Gas Company, joined the Freemasons in Hong Kong

1896 Frederick Weck the younger, of Victoria, Australia, died (while on a voyage between Australia and New Zealand); he was a commission agent[2]
