Frederick William Bond was born in 1890 and apprenticed to Thomas Lister and Co., Ltd., and Karrier Motors, Huddersfield.
Following service in H.M. Forces from 1914 to 1919, he returned to Karrier Motors as Manager of the Claims Department and Investigation Engineer.
In 1921 he commenced in business on his own account under the title of F. W. Bond and Co., building Bond cars.
In 1928 he became Engineer-Surveyor to the Motor Union Insurance Co., Ltd., and occupied this position for many years.
He died on 6th January, 1943, at the age of 53.
He was elected an Associate Member in 1920.

FREDERICK WILLIAM BOND was associated with the motor industry during the whole of his professional career and had an expert knowledge of matters relating to motor vehicle insurance, accident claims, and the inspection of machinery. He also had an extensive experience of the maintenance side of motor transport organizations. He received his technical education at Huddersfield Technical College and served his apprenticeship with Messrs. T. Lister and Company, brassfounders, Brighouse, and with Karrier Motors, Ltd., Huddersfield.
In 1914 he joined H.M. Forces and saw service abroad in the mechanical transport division of the R.A.S.C. He served in Egypt with the Middle East Force and took charge of motor vehicle and motor boat repairs. He was gazetted lieutenant in. the R.E. (T.F.) in 1917 and was subsequently appointed instructor at Stokes Bay. On demobilization in 1919 he rejoined Karrier Motors, Ltd., and was made manager of the claims department. Two years later he became manager of Messrs. F. W. Bond and Company, motor car engineers, of Brighouse, in which business he was also a partner. In 1928 he accepted an appointment as engineer surveyor to the Motor Union Insurance Company, Ltd., and was holding this position at the time of his death which occurred in his fifty-third year on 6th January 1943.
Mr. Bond was elected a Graduate of the Institution in 1913, and was transferred to Associate Membership in 1918, and to Membership in 1939.
