FREDERICK PERCIVAL LLOYD-REES received his technical education at Cardiff Technical College and the South Wales and Monmouthshire School of Mines from 1916 to 1918, and served his apprenticeship with the South Wales Power Company and in the Bargoed engineering works of the Powell Duffryn Steam Coal Company from 1920 to 1923. He was then employed by Sir James German and Company, Ltd., shipowners, of Cardiff, as marine engineer in their cargo boats until 1926, when he was engaged by the Anglo-Persian Oil Company for duties in a similar capacity in the Persian Gulf and along the Indian coast.
In 1929 he was appointed by the Crown Agents for the Colonies, station engineer in the electrical branch of the Public Works Department, in Nigeria, where he was responsible for the maintenance and running of the Lagos Power Station. He was later transferred to Kaduna where he took charge of power-station and water-works construction, and subsequently he went to Port Harcourt, Enugu, Abeokuta, and Kano, as senior station engineer.
Mr. Lloyd-Rees's death occurred in his fortieth year on 19th October 1940, a year after his election as an Associate Member of the Institution.
