FREDERICK KENSINGTON was born in London on 27th August 1838.
He was educated privately at home and abroad, and began his engineering career in England, but most of his time was spent abroad, where he was engaged in different parts of the world on various works, such as oil-boring in Galicia, gold-mining in India, the design and construction of washing machinery and railway work in connexion with iron mines in the north of Spain, etc.
He was engineer-in-chief to the San Salvador Iron Company from its commencement, and was the author of several pamphlets on Mining.
His death took place at his residence at Caterham, Surrey, on 2nd March 1914, at the age of seventy-five.
He was elected a Member of this Institution in 1892.

FREDERICK KENSINGTON, born in London in 1838, died at Caterham on the 2nd March, 1914.
After serving a pupilage to the late Mr. F. Parke, of Preston, he pursued a varied engineering career, chiefly in constructional and mining work, both at home and abroad. Amongst other work, he was engaged on railway construction and bridge erection in England, Austria, Spain, India and the United States, oil-boring in Galicia and Poland, the design and erection of mining machinery, and miscellaneous consulting work in London. He was the author of several Papers on mining and other subjects.
Mr. Kensington was elected an Associate Member of The Institution on the 3rd April, 1892, and was transferred to the class of Members on the 24th November, 1896.
