"FREDERICK JOHN SEYMOUR was associated with Messrs. Davey, Paxman and Company, Ltd., of Colchester, for nearly forty years, most of this long period being spent as the firm's engineering representative for Bristol and the west of England.
He was born in 1882, and, after serving his apprenticeship with Messrs. Henry Coleman and Company, heating and ventilating engineers, of Harlow, Essex, from 1897 to 1902, was employed for the next three years as a fitter by Messrs. John Kirkaldy, marine engineers.
He began, in 1907, his long connection with Messrs. Davey, Paxman and Company at their Colchester works, where he was engaged in the testing department and as an erector until 1911, when he went to Bristol as district engineer for the firm. In 1924 he took up an appointment as chief engineer to Messrs. Apperley Curtis and Company, woollen manufacturers, of Stroud, Glos, but returned to Bristol two years later as engineer and district manager for Messrs. Davey, Paxman and Co. Since 1933 he had been in complete charge of the firm's interests in that district. Mr. Seymour was elected an Associate Member of the Institution in 1937. His death occurred at Bristol on 17th January 1949."
