Frederick Howard Sabin ( -1921)

1921 Obituary [1]

FREDERICK HOWARD SABIN died very suddenly on February 20, 1921, at Bournemouth.

The only son of the late Mr. W. H. Sabin, of the Leasowes, Moseley, and nephew of the late Dr. Westcott, the well-known Bishop of Durham, Mr. Sabin was a member of one of the oldest families in the city. He had many business interests, and was the managing director of William Morris & Son (Birmingham), Ltd., a director of the Sandwell Park Colliery Co., and of the New Delaville Spelter Co., Ltd., also a local director of the Car and General Insurance Co.

He was an old member of the Clef Club, and of Moseley Golf Club, of which in his earlier days he was captain. He had represented the club in the Midland Counties Competitions. For some twenty years he had resided at Priory Dene, Edgbaston, but returned to Moseley about four years ago. Mr. Sabin had been for the past three years churchwarden of Moseley Parish Church, latterly as vicar's warden. He was very keenly interested in the Women's Hospital as a member of the Finance Committee, and was recently elected Chairman of Moseley Divisional Unionist Association. He was fifty-eight years of age, and leaves a widow and one son.

Mr. Sabin was elected a member of the Institute of Metals on September 19, 1917.
