Frederick Cecil Brown, born Feb. 17th 1893, elected a Member in 1921, was educated at Shepton Mallet Grammar School and Derby Technical College. Part of his engineering apprenticeship was served in the Somerset and Dorset Railway Locomotive Shops at Highbridge and completed on the Midland Railway at Derby.

After a period in the Drawing Office in 1914 he enlisted on the outbreak of war. In 1916 he was transferred to the Ministry of Munitions as a Section Director (Production) of munition gauges.

In 1919, after being demobilised, he joined the Central Cordoba Railway Company as chief of the Technical Office, and in 1922 was appointed Locomotive Running Superintendent.

In 1928 he joined the Buenos Ayres and Pacific Railway as Locomotive Running Superintendent.

He was an active member of the Institution, being a member of the local Committee from 1927 to 1930 Vice-Chairman from 1931 to 1934.

He died in Buenos Ayres on January 21st 1937, in his 44th year.
