Frank William Spooner was born in 1905 and apprenticed to automobile engineering at Riley (Coventry), Ltd.

After gaining experience as a junior draughtsman he became Senior Draughtsman with Armstrong Siddeley Motors, Ltd., and, after five years, Designer-Draughtsman with the Bristol Aeroplane Company.

He died on 17th October, 1944, at the age of 49.

He was elected a Graduate in 1928, and transferred to Associate Member in 1935.
