1885 September 8th. Born at Crayford, Kent, the son of John Christopher Field, dairyman, and his wife Frances Elizabeth Simpson.

Attended Marshall's School, Erith, and the London County Council School of Science, Woolwich

Apprenticeship in mechanical engineering at Woolwich Arsenal

1906 November 17th. Married Harriet Elizabeth Bell, a schoolteacher.

Emigrated to Australia

1961 November 19th. Died at Camperdown, Sydney
