1915 Bankruptcy. '...estates of FRANCIS WILLIAM RAIKES BELL (otherwise WILLIAM RAIKES BELL), Motor Engineer, formerly of South Ward-road, Dundee, and presently residing at 24, Pitkerro-road, Dundee, were sequestrated on 22nd March, 1915, by the Sheriff of the county of Forfar, at Dundee....'[1]

1916 Injured. 'Mr William Raikes Bell, manager of the garage in Foundry Lane occupied by the Dundee Motor Lorry Company, Limited, sustained serious injuries yesterday as the result of an explosion. Mr Bell was soldering hole in the petrol tank of a motor car when the explosion occurred, and he was struck on the head by a piece of the tank. He was removed with all expedition to the Royal Infirmary in the ambulance van, and was detained.' [2]
