'The death has occurred Shamrock House, Durham, of Lieut.-Colonel Francis Coulson, a well-known mining engineer, who was responsible for sinking of many of the largest Collieries in the northern coalfield. Born at Seaham Harbour in 1849, Colonel was educated at Rossall School, after which commenced his career as a mining engineer....'[1]
