François Prudent Bourdon (29 July 1797-19 April 1865) was an important French engineer and inventor.
Born at Seurre, France, 29th July 1797.
c.1827 Employed at the Le Creusot works of Aaron Manby and Charles Wilson. After 7 years he left, but returned in 1837 at the request of the new owners, the Schneider Brothers. [1]As their Engineer, he was responsible for the design of the first large direct-acting steam hammer in 1841.
Bourdon had worked briefly for Fawcett, Preston and Co in Liverpool c.1836.[2]
Died 25th November 1865.
