Foseco Minsep

From Graces Guide

of Queen Anne's Gate, London

1964 Minerals Separation sought a separate quotation for Foseco of which it owned 77%[1]. Foseco owned 70 trademarks, 220 patents and had 375 applications for patents pending[2]. In the event, 45% was floated[3].

1969 The Foseco group had grown so much since it was floated that it made to sense to take over Minerals Separation since the 2 companies shared similar aims and had the same chairman; the new company was called Foseco Minsep[4].

1969 Foseco Minsep operated in 3 industrial sectors[5]:

  • Proprietary products for the metallurgical industry
  • Consumables for the building and construction industry through Celmac Ltd and Chemical Building Products Ltd, and international planning through Nitol Ltd
  • Treating industrial waste and effluent through Fospur Ltd

It was planned to expand these activities through self generated actions, acquisition and licensing.

1969 Acquired Lycrete and Protim and made an offer to acquire Gallwey[6]

1969 Foseco Lycrete Ltd was incorporated, dealing in metal recovery and in plant for such purposes.

1970 Foseco Lycrete was renamed Foseco Lycrete Holdings Ltd

1975 Foseco Lycrete Holdings Ltd was renamed IMS Lycrete Holdings Ltd. acquiring Minseco Ltd and Steel Works Services Ltd and was then renamed IMS Lycrete Ltd.

1979 Sold subsidiary A. M. Lock and Co to Newey and Eyre.[7]

1980 Acquired Unicorn Industries which served similar clients but at a different stage of their businesses[8]

1990 IMS Lycrete Ltd. was renamed MultiServ Ltd.

1991 Foseco Minsep was acquired by Burmah-Castrol which then sold off the building products group[9]
