1954 Flight Refuelling, Ltd. Head Office: Tarrant Rushton Airfield, Blandford. Dorset. T.: Blandford 501. T.A. and Cables: Refuelling Blandford. Designers and manufacturers of probe and drogue equipment for flight refuelling and components for ground pressure refuelling. Shut-off valves, float switches, pressure relief valves, non-return valves, refuelling couplings (hose and aircraft units), pipe connectors, etc., hoses and centrifugal pumps; fuel flow test installations; full scale mock-up tests of fuel installations.[1]
1961 Manufacturers of pressure refuelling equipment, also engaged in aeronautical research, and development, refuelling of aircraft in flight. [2]
1968 Supplied seal plug and housings for the Winfrith power station. [3]
1970s FRL transferred its aerial operations to Hurn Airport.
1983 Acquired Huntleigh by a share-swap and sold the medical and electronics parts to the chairman and chief executive, leaving FRL with Hymatic, maker of high tech equipment for the defence and aerospace sectors[4]
1989 Flight Refuelling acquired Linborn, holding company of the Chelton Group[5]
1995 Changed its name to Cobham[6]
