1984 As part of the reorganisation of the company, Instrumention was one of the 5 divisions created. As well as Ferranti Instrumentation, Ferranti Engineering and Ferranti GTE had business in this area.[1]

Ferranti Instrumentation Ltd was organised as 5 separate businesses:

  • Weapons Equipment
  • Aircraft Equipment
  • Naval Equipment
  • Mitchell Hydraulics
  • Commercial Instruments.

Ferranti Engineering Ltd was organised as 3 separate businesses:

  • Ferranti Container Handling Ltd
  • Ferranti Tapchangers Ltd
  • Ferranti Resin Ltd.

Ferranti GTE was a JV with GTE Corporation. It was an independent telecommunications supplier, particularly private exchange equipment.
