Evelyn Hugh (St. David) Owen (c1880-1960), of the Automobile Transport Co, Twentieth Century Travel Co, Orleans Car Co, Owen Motor Co - also see Owen Cars and Motor Transport Co and perhaps Owen and Orleans and Twentieth Century Cars.

Note: The Beaulieu Encyclopedia of the Automobile has concerns over whether E. H. Owen ever manufactured cars or was rather a fantasist 'in the Walter Mitty mould'.

c1880 Born in London the son of Joseph Pugh Owen, a university tutor, and his wife Marian (Mary Anne) Williams

1891 Living at 12 Portland Place, Fulham: Joseph P. Owen (age 44 born Llandeilo, Carmarthenshire, Wales), Tutor for University. With his wife Marian Owen (age 42 born Dublin) and their four children; Cecil V. M. Owen (age 17 born Paddington); Evelyn Owen (age 10 born London); Gladys Owen (age 8? born London); and Kathleen Owen (age 2 born London).[1]

1901 Living at 72, Comeragh Road, London, W: Joseph Owen (age 54 born Llandeilo, Carmarthenshire, Wales), Private Tutor for Univ. etc. With his wife Marian Owen (age 52 born Ireland) and their three children; Evelyn Owen (age 20 born Fulham), Clerk in Shipping; Gladys Owen (age 18 born Fulham); and Kathleen Owen (age 12 born Fulham).[3]

1902 The Motor Transport Co of Comeragh Road produced a short-lived motorcycle.

1908 Evelyn Hugh Owen, of 1 Long Acre, engineer, gained a patent on "improvements in connection with the valves of internal combustion engines"

1909 Evelyn Hugh Owen, of 1 Long Acre, engineer, gained a patent on "improvements in steering apparatus for motor cars and other vehicles", and another on "improvements in or relating to motor vehicles"

1911 Living at 36 Barons Court Road, Fulham: Mary Anne Owen (age 61 born Dublin), Widow. With her three children; Evelyn Hugh Owen (age 30 born London), Journalist - Engineering; Gladys Mary Winifred Owen (age 28 born London), Clerk - Insurance; and Kathleen Theresa Owen (age 23 born London), Clerk - Insurance

1911 September. Letter about motor industry and includes 'the various motor companies under my control' [8]

1914 Patent 11,171. 'Process and means for improving the operation of internal combustion engines'[9]

1921 Evelyn Hugh Owen, of 32 Queen Victoria St, gained a patent on "A working process in and means for the construction and operation of an internal combustion engine"

1922 US Patent. Internal combustion engine, of Comeragh Road. [10]

1960 Died in Bournemouth.
