EVAN NICHOLAS died on May 16, 1895, at Merthyr Tydfil.

Born in the year 1842, he was a native of Rhymney, and was for twenty years in the employment of Lord Bute as mechanical engineer.

He was elected a member of the Iron and Steel Institute in 1891, and was a well-known figure on board the s.s. Seroia on the occasion of the Institute's visit to America.
