ERNEST TETLOW was a director of the firm of Messrs. Tetlow Brothers, Hollinwood, and was responsible, in conjunction with his brother, in establishing in 1879 this firm of boiler-makers. He took over sole proprietorship in 1907, and in 1926 converted his business into a private limited liability company, he himself acting as governing director, with his two sons as directors.

Mr. Tetlow was born at Hollinwood in 1853, where he was also educated, and he served his apprenticeship with Messrs. Galloways of Manchester.

He had been a Member of the Institution since 1891.

He was 78 years of age at the time of his death, which occurred on 13th September 1931 at his native town.
