Eric Williams
Eric Williams (1894- )
Born Holmer, Hereford, 6th May, 1894.
Educated St. Owens, Hereford.
Served apprenticeship with Commercial Auto Car Co., Hereford,
1911 Joined A. J. Stevens and Co
1914 First place in the Isle of Man TT race (junior class) on an AJS.
Won many other open competitions.
Joined Army 1914, served in R.E. in France, awarded D.C.M. Gassed on Somme, and discharged 1917.
Became Supervisor and Engineer to Ford Production Dept.
Opened Motor Depot in Worcester in 1920 and assumed present position as MD Eric Williams Ltd. Won many open competitions, reliability trials, hill climbs, and races, including 1921 Junior Tourist Trophy.
WWII Took up war work under Ministry of Agriculture.
Post-war kept up interest in Motor Racing, entering (in most national races) cars and motor cycles driven and ridden by younger son.
1948 appointed Director of Mac Fisheries Ltd.
1949 Director of Tower Hill Farms Ltd.
1953 Managing Director, Eric Williams Ltd., Worcester.
