Flight-Sergeant ERIC MORGAN was born in 1910, and educated at Pannal Ash College, Harrogate, and Leeds Technical College. He served his apprenticeship with the Hunslet Engine Company from 1929 to 1932, at the conclusion of which he became assistant to the production engineer. Later he was appointed assistant to the technical director, and was engaged on the supervision of trials of experimental types of Diesel locomotives.
In 1934 he became a draughtsman at the works of the Blackburn Aircraft Company, Brough, a position which he held until his appointment in 1936 as production draughtsman to Hawker Aircraft, Ltd., Kingston-on-Thames. He went to the Royal Small Arms Factory, Enfield Lock, in 1937 as technical assistant and was responsible to the manager for compiling specifications for machine tools and for investigating production problems.
He was a Graduate of the Institution from 1932 to 1935, and was elected an Associate Member in 1938. Flight-Sergeant Morgan joined the Auxiliary Air Force while with the Blackburn Aircraft Company, and having obtained his wings in 1937, reported for duty on the outbreak of war. He was killed in action on 11th June 1940, a fortnight after joining his squadron.
