1890 Having become one of the youngest captains in the Royal Navy, he left the service to become manager of Whitehead and Co's torpedo factory at Weymouth[2]

1890 Birth of son John[3]

1894 Birth of son Lionel

Subsequently he became managing director of the firm

1901 His commission and rank were restored to him on the emergency list

1906 Died at Wyke Regis, Dorset.
