1901 Residing at Sunnydene, Kirby Field, Main Street, Kirby Muxloe: Edward Wood (age 62 born Derby), Shoe Factor. With his wife Annie and daughter Catherine.[1]

1906 Lord Mayor of Leicester (4th time)

1911 Residing at Diby, Knighton: Edward Wood (age 72 born Derby), Private means (Widower). With his widowed daughter and grandchildren.[2]

1917 Died. '...Born at Derby, his father being an engine driver. Sir Edward came to Leicester with his family about the year 1850. He was apprenticed to the late Mr. Wm. Barnes, a hosier and outfitter in the Market-place, but at the close of his apprenticeship he joined the late Mr. J. H. Pickering and Mr. Statham in the business of shoe manufacturing (as Wood, Pickering and Co). Eventually he commenced trading on his own account as E. Wood and Co., and after a time sold the business to Freeman, Hardy, and Willis, to take an appointment in connection with Messrs. Barrow Bros. the well-known firm of leather merchants. After being with them ten years he re-joined the firm of Freeman, Hardy, and Willis on its formation into a limited company, becoming chairman and managing director...'[3]
