EDWARD HUNTER FIELD, M.B.E., M.G., who Was elected an Associate Member of the Institution in 1913, was a refrigerating engineer whose entire professional career was associated with the firm of Messrs. L. Sterne and Company.
He was born in 1854 and educated at Marlborough College. After serving for seven years as a pupil with Messrs. Vickers, Ltd., and attending classes at Sheffield University he joined Messrs. Sterne as assistant engineer and subsequently was made engineer fur the London district. He served in the war of 1914-18 with the Royal Field Artillery, Territorial Force, and was awarded the M.B.E. and M.C.
In 1922 Mr. Field was appointed to the board of directors of Messrs. Sterne, and became managing director of the London branch in 1926. He occupied this position until his death, which occurred on 3rd April 1942.
