EDWARD ALINGTON ROYDS, born at Little Barford, Bedfordshire, on the 18th October, 1875, was killed in a motor-car accident at Durban on the 23rd July, 1915.
Trained at Crewe locomotive works, he went to South Africa in 1902 and was employed by the Cape Peninsula Electric Lighting Co., and as an assistant to Mr. Thomas Stewart, M. Inst. C.E., until 1904, when he entered the service of the Transvaal Irrigation and Water Supply Department, subsequently becoming Circle Engineer in the Union Irrigation Department.
He was elected an Associate Member on the 14th January, 1908.
