Dunbee-Combex
1962 The Dunbee group of plastics manufacturers have created shares to make their Peterborough subsidiary, Combex, Ltd., a public company[1]
1962 Shares listed on the Stock Exchange. The "baby doll firm" was run by two dynamic young men called Richard Beecham and Basil Feldman, their Combex toys were sold through Woolworths and other large chains.[2]
1963 Dunbee-Combex Ltd, parent company of Plasticasts, the Warrington toy manufacturers, made a profit of £151978 before tax last year. The company was floated a year ago.[3]
1963 The Dunbee-Combex Group acquired the Jean Sorelle group whose interests are in tollet preparations and air purifying tablets.[4]
1963 Dunbee-Combex Group acquired Burbank Plastics Ltd from J. A. and P. Holland[5]
1964 "The Dunbee-Combex group said they would take over the House of Rees which makes Chiltern Toys and Isovac vacuum flasks and distributes toy ..."[6] presumably by acquiring H. G. Stone and Co but then sold on Isovac[7]
1967 "Chad Valley, the Birmingham toymaker, is negotiating to acquire from Dunbee Combex the business of H. G. Stone, maker of Chiltern plush dolls. and certain assets of L. Rees. ..."[8]
1967 "... completed the sale of H. G. Stone and Co. and the name of L. Rees and Co. to Chad Valley. ...[9]
1967 "The Dunbee division specialise in plastic sheeting, coverings and housewares and the Combex division manufacture toys and fancy goods."[10]
1967 "Dunbee-Combex Ltd's takeover of Louis Marx and Co Ltd in Peterborough's £1 million “toymakers coup” will be officially ratified today."[11]
