DUDLEY COLLINS FRANCIS, born 30th July, 1887, at Stoke, Devonport, was killed in action in France, 13th November, 1916.

Having been educated at Plymouth College and the Omens College, Manchester, he was trained under his father, Mr. Harry Francis, M.Inst.C.E., for 4 years, becoming his assistant in 1910.

In the following year he was appointed an assistant to the Chief Engineer of the Rand Water Board, Johannesburg. He returned to England in October, 1914, and joined the Public Schools Battalion.

He was on active service in France from November, 1915, to March, 1916, and was gazetted Second Lieutenant in the York and Lancaster Regiment 2nd July, 1916, returning to the Front two months later.

He was elected an Associate Member on the 3rd December, 1912.
